The Massive show of Power and Military readiness makes the Thalmor pause with their plans for Mainland domination. The Empire launches a full scale assault on the Stormcloaks. The Thalmor now have two Major Continent countries to build up their forces and continue to close the Noose around the Empire. Without the Empire to Supply them like before, Hammersfall Can't hold out between the combined forces of the Thalmor, And fall. As the Empire is locked in the civil war, The Thalmor launch a Second Offensive on Hammersfall. Draining eachother's resources and numbers. The Stormcloaks and Empire stay at a stalemate. After the Thalmor crush Skyrim, Their combined forces decide to move on Cyrodil to crush the Empire once and for all.
They now have Cyrodil surounded from the North through Skyrim and the South through Elyswer. After which, The Thalmor invade Skyrim, Crushing the weakened war ravaged lands. After a bloody war, The Stormcloaks push the Empire out of Skyrim. We know their motive is to weaken out the Empire in a long drawn out conflict.
